Cats are one of the most independent animals around. Unlike a dog, which needs to be walked and groomed, a cat can pretty much handle things for itself. For instance, with a dog, they need constant attention or else they mope around in a state of depression. You have to play ball with them, toss a stick to them or take them for walks to keep them entertained. A cat, however, does not need this constant attention and actually dislikes it. Sure a cat likes to be pet every once in a while and maybe chase a string of yarn or a catnip ball, but other than that, they pretty much enjoy the luxury of sunning themselves and watching their masters run around like fools with the dog. So, is the cat a better companion than a dog? Possibly so, and just like the post here outlines, cats are low maintenance.
